Trouble Shooting VoiceDESIGNTM

This gives advice on how to overcome several common problems that arise when setting
up the voice recognition software.  You can tell that VoiceDESIGNTM is hearing your
commands because the program's title bar turns from Green to Yellow when you issue
a command.


"VoiceDESIGNTM doesn't respond to my voice commands."

    Make sure that your microphone is plugged into the right jacks.  Make sure it is
    turned on.  You can check the microphone by clicking on Options >Other >Microphone
    Setup Wizard.

    Make sure that your sound card has the proper drivers and is functioning properly



"VoiceDESIGNTM seems to be responding when I talk, but it doesn't recognize
what I say."

    Try adjusting the volume on your computer. You can do this by clicking on
    Start > Programs > Accessories > Multimedia > Volume Control. If you don't see a
    slider for the microphone and "Wave" then click on Options > Properties and
    put a check in the microphone and Wave boxes.  Try adjusting these two sliders
    to get accurate voice recognition.  You can also try adjusting the voice recognition
    settings, as explained in the next section.



"VoiceDESIGNTM recognizes some of my commands but not very many of them."

    Try adjusting the recognition settings.  You can get to those inside VoiceDESIGNTM
    by clicking on Options > Other > Voice Recognition Settings. Try changing the
    settings in the performance tab.  If you have the volume of your microphone tuned
    in precisely, you can set the automatic gain to off (it attempts to adjust your
    microphone volume constantly.) Try doing more voice training.  You can get to
    that inside VoiceDESIGNTM by clicking on Options > Other > Voice Training.
    The more articles you read, the higher the accuracy will be.



"VoiceDESIGNTM recognizes my commands pretty good, but nothing happens
with Pro/ENGINEER."

    Make sure that you added the proper line to your Config.pro file.  You can find
    information about this in the "README Before Install" file that comes with
    VoiceDESIGNTM.

    Try clicking on "Reset CAD Connection" Sometimes the connection between
    VoiceDESIGNTM and Pro/ENGINEER does not initialize and several attempts
    need to be made.



"I just can't seem to get this thing to work and I'm getting very frustrated!"
